Tsutomu Mıyazakı
THE OTAKU MURDERER
Tsutomu Miyazaki is a Japanese serial killer, cannibal, child rapist, child murderer, and necrophile (sexually likes corpses). He murdered 4 young girls and was called "Otaku Murderer" (socially awkward, likes anime and manga and such) by the media.
Miyazaki was the eldest son of a rich family. He was born premature and his hands' joints were fused together. That prevented him from being able to bend his wrists upwards. He thought about suicide because of the parental negligence that he felt. He only felt his grandfather's closeness. When he died Miyazaki ate some of his ashes to "retain something from him". Weeks later his sister caught him when he was watching her shower. When she told him to leave, he attacked her. Then her mother learned about the incident and told him to work more and spend less time watching videos. When she told him that, he attacked her as well.
During the day he was a normal citizen but outside the work, he chose kids to kill. He would also send letters to the parents of those kids, telling them the details of the murders. Police found out all the victims had received silent calls. He would call and then instead of answering he would just start to breathe heavily. Even if they wouldn't pick up the calls, he would insist on calling them. Some calls were ringing even 20 minutes long.
On 22 August 1988, one day after Miyazaki's 26th birthday a girl named Mari Konno (4) disappeared while playing at a friend's house. After her father couldn't find her, he contacted the police. Miyazaki has kidnapped the girl and put her inside his car. Then he drove the car under a bridge in a wooded area. In there he sat along the girl 30 minutes before murdering her and raped her corpse. Then he dumped her body (naked) to the hills near his house. After that, he left the corpse to decompose a little. Then he returned to the hill and removed her hands and feet to bring home (inside his closet). He burned Konno's bones in his furnace, ground them into powder, and sent them to her family with some of her teeth, photos of her clothes, and a postcard that says "Mari. Cremated. Bones. Investigate. Prove.". After Miyazaki's arrest, they found her hands and feet inside his closet (almost 1 year later).
On 3 October 1988, Miyazaki kidnapped a 7-year-old named Masami Yoshizawa after finding her while driving. He offered a ride to Yoshizawa and he accepted. After that, he drove to the same place (under the bridge) and killed her too. He raped her corpse too. Then he took her clothes with him and left.
On 12 December 1988, again he abducted a girl named Erika Namba
(4), while she was returning home. He forced her into his car and drove away.
He forced Nambe to remove her clothes in the back seat and began to take her
pictures. Then he killed her and tied her legs and hands behind her back,
covered her in a bedsheet, and tucked her into his car's trunk. He disposed of her
clothes in a wooded area and left her body in a parking lot. It was discovered
3 days later. On 20 December her family received a postcard with a message that
says "Erika. Cold. Cough. Throat. Rest. Death.".
On 6 June 1989, Miyazaki persuaded a 5-year-old girl Ayako Nomoto
to take pictures of her. After that, he brought her to his car murdered her,
covered her with bedsheets, and again placed her in his car's trunk. Then he
took her to his apartment and raped her corpse for 2 days, taking pictures of
her in various positions and filming her. When her corpse began to decompose,
he dismembered her and abandoned her torso in a cemetery and her head in nearby
hills. But he kept her hands to eat them and drinking blood from them. Because he
feared police to find her body parts he took the parts in cemetery and hills (2
weeks later) and tucked them into his closet.
In July 1989, he saw 2 sisters playing in a park and he parted the
younger sister from the elder one. He convinced her to strip and started to
take her photos. But the father of the sisters caught him and began to attack
him. Unfortunately, he succeeded to escape. After returning to the park to
return his car he was arrested by the police. The police searched his 2-room
bungalow (small house or cottage) and found 5,763 videotapes, some contained
anime and slasher films (The Otaku Murderer name comes from here). Among them,
there was video footage and pictures of the victims. He was also a fan of
horror films, which he had a collection of. He was indifferent in the trial,
completely calm and composed.
In his trial, he began to blame his action on his alter ego
(alternative self) "Rat Man". He said the Rat Man forced him to kill
and he started to draw him. His father refused to pay for his son's legal
defense and committed suicide in 1994. The trial lasted 7 years. They focused on
his mental state at the time of the murders (Japanese laws say that if a person
is mentally not sane, he is not legally guilty). The court provided expert
psychiatrists and the first team concluded he was Schizophrenic, the other one
said that he had Multiple Personality Disorder. The third one stated although
he had a personality disorder, he was still capable of taking responsibility for
his actions. He was sentenced to death on 14 April 1997. However, his death sentence was upheld. He described his actions as an "act of benevolence". Miyazaki was hanged on 17 June 2008.
