THE SICKENING TRUTH

Unit - 731, also known as Ishi Unit, is a Japanese military unit that is known for human experiments and biological weapon researches. The director of the unit Shiro Ishi (yeah, the name comes from this man) is a Japanese microbiologist and army medical officer. He is the man behind the water purifier systems that can produce water from human urine. This man was the mastermind behind all those experiments. They had subjects from all around the world. But the majority of the experiment subjects were from China. Approximately 3,000 to 12000 people had died from these experiments. The main purpose of those experiments was to use them at WW2. They would call them "maruta" basically meaning the "logs" that feed the fire. When they died they were thrown to the fire.


They made experiments to treat frostbite. One of the experimental subjects were made to expose to cold air. To made her suffer from frostbite, they poured cold water in her arms. The process repeated until she couldn't feel anything within her arm area. Then they brought her inside the army hospital and they immersed her arms in hot water. After that, the arms would shrink and she had no life in her arms. So, they ripped the meat off her skin. When that process was over, they broke her open bones and sealed the wound. They also made open autopsies. Of course, all of these processes were in secret and the little we know are from the researches and the remaining documents. 



Another experiment topic was to search for a way to make a plague that is 60 times stronger. To make that they first used the lab rats to synthesize the plague. After that, they used subjects to eject the virus. They ejected the virus in one subject and after that, they collected the blood of this subject they ejected it to the second one. Hereafter one day Shiro Ishi came with an idea. There was a porcelain piece broken, when he was staring into that piece, he came to the idea of using porcelain bombs. If the bombs were to be thrown into the air from a plane, then the plague powder inside it would get into everyone underneath it. He immediately tried this idea. Of course, they used "marutas" for this purpose. But when the soldiers are throwing the bombs, they accidentally broke one and they were infected as well. In order to prevent the plague from spreading the soldiers were executed. 



When the experiments on the 60 times stronger plague were going smoothly an order came from the headquarters. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed. And they immediately needed to retreat. Ishi ordered to burn all of the experiment results. And he suggested executing all the soldiers involved in this secret experimental base. But these orders were strongly denied. They managed to keep the soldiers alive even though they couldn't keep the result files. However, Ishi was allowed to keep the files he needed. They burned down all the 731 Unit bases and the documents. They also killed all the "marutas" and the lab animals. Ishi on the other hand after the base was emptied gave all the information, he brought with him to America.
